MARILYN ARTUS
Marilyn Artus is a Neo-Pop artist. It is important to her that her work communicate her explorations on the American culture and the expectations that are ever present for women. Artus comes from four generations of women that created beautiful things from a needle and cloth. She has tried other media, but they never felt quite right to her; it always felt like something was missing. After much discovery she added embroidery to her work; it was a eureka moment. She is the first of my family line to break away from store bought patterns and create something new, something that comes straight out of her imagination.
